Lansing, Michigan | Fine Art Lifestyle | Newborn Session

There is something magical (and exhausting) about the first days at home. Everyone is learning, in a whole new way. The total aura of the house changes, even down to the fur babes of the house. The dynamic of a new life suddenly arrives and takes over the scene. Mom and Dad are learning the baby, and the baby is learning them. It’s priceless to have these moments captured, especially in the comfort of your own home.  Which is why I find it so endearing when a family invites me into their home to capture these precious, fleeting moments in time. A chance to relive them, once they are no longer quite so small, with such delicate features, and those sweet little noises.

Welcome to the world, Jackson.

To-Do’s Before Your Boudoir Shoot Day – Lansing Michigan Boudoir

When you’re getting ready to have a Boudoir shoot done, there are a few things you should do in preparation.

Fresh color, and cut for your hair is a must. We can see new growth in your photos, so we definitely want to avoid that! I would highly suggest visiting – it’s an Aveda salon in Downtown Mason, Michigan. You will get the pampering you deserve before your shoot! The ladies there will take care of your needs, and the hand and arm massage while you’re getting color is to die for!

Eyebrows waxed within the week before your shoot.. Every little stray is noticed in photos.

Outfit, heels and any kind of jewelry should be folded neatly so we have no crease marks, or any kind of wrinkles.

The morning of your shoot, you should shave any unwanted hair, you know.. lady bits, arm pits, legs.. the whole 9 yards. 😉 That way, there’s no chance for razor burn, or stubble which can also stand out.  Make sure your hair is freshly washed, idealy the night before and dried. Greasy stands out as overly shiny, at the scalp so we want fresh locks!

Bring lotion, silky looking skin is the best! And make sure you wear no bra, tight socks, or anything that’s going to leave indents in your skin, those aren’t typically edited easily. Hair bands around the wrist are another big one! Loose fitting clothes, for the win before your shoot!  And CLEAR deodorant.

Be prepared, to have SO much fun! Boudoir is the most empowering thing you can do for yourself. There is nothing like getting pampered, and feeling sexy while getting your photos taken. As a stylist myself, I like to fluff hair, and do little tweaks or touch ups on lips, possibly switch up the color while we’re shooting. It keeps things fresh and different!

Lansing Michigan Boudoir Photographer- Published in Blog!

Lansing Michigan Boudoir Photographer – Magan Konoski Fine Art Boudoir –

I was over the MOON ecstatic when sent me an email telling me that I would be featured on their blog with MY WORK.  Up to 25 images from one of my sessions would be featured on their blog! WHAT!!?! I’ve been submitting to all sorts of blogs, for months and months. With no return emails. So you can imagine my surprise when they got back to me almost immediately after my submission. I was shocked, they were responding to ME! They asked for more images, and a 300 word statement about how/why I shoot boudoir. It was just blowing my mind! So, I got right to work sending them more images, and creating some real passionate content for their Blog post. I just felt like writing what I wanted to share with them flowed so easily from my fingers as I typed out my reasoning.   When the blog was published on Friday, I may have shed a tear or two seeing my work published on something that wasn’t mine.  Please, if you have a second to go see the blog, I would absolutely love it!

They also asked my client, to share her feelings on doing Boudoir, and what she felt like afterwards. Here in her own words, is what she had to say.

“Doing boudoir is therapeutic and a way to heal and find love for yourself if you do struggle with self confidence, like most of us. What boudoir is truly about to me is embracing our individuality and “flaws”, and seeing them photographed in such a beautiful way has helped me accept the parts of myself I am self conscious about. Not only do I feel sexy after seeing Magan’s photographs, but more importantly I feel strong and confident.”  – Olivia
